I found my first Tibetan rug, a rectangular horse saddle, in October 1989.
Relocating from Geneva, I had been recently posted to Singapore by my company and, on one of my ritual weekend tours of antique shops, I was visiting for the first time a new one-- don't I remember the strange name- Babazaar. There I was attracted by one rug in particular, its colours mellowed by time, with two snow lions on an endless swastika pattern background, and of an unusual T-shaped design with four symmetrical holes bordered by stitched leather. I learned from the shop-owner that it was a Tibetan horse saddle.
By then I knew that I had to discover more about it...
The ride to the discovery of Tibetan rugs had started!
